Mind, Body, Spirit ~ what does that really mean?
Mind, Body, Spirit seems to be the new buzz words in today’s media regarding alternative health and wellness. What does this mean exactly? When we talk about whole body wellness, we know that each component affects the other. For instance, have you ever been under stress and as a result you ended up with a headache or migraine? The stress (mental/mind) is affecting your body (aka, headache). Or, have you ever had a time of chronic pain and it puts you into a bad mood? That’s your pain (body) affecting your mood (mental/spiritual). Make sense?
At Healthy You, we look at the whole body! If you are having a problem; we don’t just look at the problem, we explore all areas of the body system, mind (mental and emotional), body and spirit. Is your nutrition (body) affecting your mood? Is your mood/stress (mind) causing your blood pressure to rise? Another thing people don’t realize is that there is a connection with our belief systems and our health. Our belief systems are deeply rooted in our culture, no matter where you’re from. Often times – if there is no belief system – there is likely to be more depression or feelings of hopelessness. Alternatively – with belief systems – in times of emotional stress or loss of loved ones, it becomes easier to cope with life, thereby having a healthier mind, body, spirit.
