Plant-Based Food Class

This week, Healthy You enjoyed what will be the first of many Plant-Based Food Cooking Classes! Those in attendance had a fabulous time and enjoyed learning how to approach this “new and exciting” lifestyle. There are many benefits to choosing a plant-based/vegan lifestyle. One of those is the positive effect it has on cholesterol! After participating in a 21-day challenge initiated and supported by my local community, my total cholesterol and LDL (bad cholesterol) significantly dropped; so much so that several of us who took the course decided it would be useful to others who share the same concerns – hence the Plant-Based Cooking Classes! Check out pictures of the event on my Facebook page We used 7 different recipes, taught by 3 different teachers. All participants helped prepare the foods. On the menu was a Black Bean Veggie Burger, Potato Salad, Fresh Salsa, Spinach Dip, a refreshing summer drink and 2 different desserts. Needless to say, no one went home hungry! It was agreed that all who attended would definitely come again and invite their friends and family. Our next scheduled Plant-Based Cooking Class will be in August, and we plan to do this monthly, so stay tuned for future classes!
